Baby’s First Snaps

24 Feb

I did my first snaps tonight guys. 💯💯🍭I’m new to it so if it was scary/awkward to watch then well…it’s probably only going to get more awkward from here. 🍿🍎My snaps include me with no makeup…ZERO MAKEUP, MY WIG COLLECTION, & A HUGE PILE OF MAKEUP MESS.

Add me on there and I’ll add you back. My username is the same as my insragram @beautybyburden 💋💋

SHADOW BATTLE: Viseart vs. MakeupGeek

31 Jan

OK you guys I’m finally doing this review/comparison on Viseart and Makeup Geek shadows. Please share your thoughts down below…hope you enjoy mine.

So I did similar eye shadow looks on two different days, basically a bronze/brown smokey eye. Now I’ve used these shadows before, you may have seen my holiday makeup looks. I’ve used both brands alone or simultaneously.  I’ve experimented with both brands and feel like I can make a good review at this point.

viseart_eyeshadow01_03

These are kiss lashes in case anyone is wondering. They are my favorite. you can get them at wal-mart or drugstores. they are so comfortable!!!!

This is viseart shadow from the 01 matte palette and the 03 bridal satin palette and viseart gel liner (mixed with some inglot duraline solution)

MAKEUP GEEK

Pardon the top knot. I had just gotten back from a top knot party. 😋 so anyways… These are makeup geek shadows in moondust, glamourous, and bitten in the crease with an urban decay pencil liner I think.

UGH bitten…it looks so pretty in the pan but then once you start applying it, it just goes EVERYWHERE. it doesn’t look to bad in the picture but that’s because i put a bunch of concealer on top of it. There’s blendable and then there’s this…where it’s just like a two year old smearing food on a wall. That sh*t goes everywhere!

I will say that I do love most of their duochrome shadows (and probably darn near all of their foiled shadows). OMG typhoon is my favorite. just to give you a recap of typhoon:

makeupgeektyphoon

MAKEUP GEEK: Typhoon Duochrome (lid only) and of course VISEART hanging in the crease (from the 08 Editorial Matte palette)

golddiggerSantaBabymakeup

More Makeup Geek: Fortune teller, ritzy, and cocoa bear I really adore this gold and Viseart does not have one this quite yellow.

Some may argue that Makeup Geek Shadows are more unique and brightly colored…but Viseart did this:

galaxystarwarsmakeup

To get the sparkles i applied Urban Decay’s Heavy Metal liner in Glam Rock.

and this:

negativespacecutcrease

Pardon all of the stray hairs

EFFORTLESS. That’s what I think when I think Viseart. Even when I was trying to do the negative space cut crease. The pigmentation is there, it’s blendable, it’s buildable, it’s beautiful. Overall, I would have to say that I prefer Viseart Eye shadows. I think they are better quality and have more consistent quality throughout their shadows. I have to work a lot less with all of the Viseart shadows and it’s pretty hit or miss with the makeup geek shadows. That being said, I do not think Makeup Geek has bad shadows. I think they have really nice ones and then they have a lot of duds. If I had to return one brand of of shadow and never use it again it would be Makeup Geek.

OK OK…right now you’re probably like, “are you sponsored by them or something?” ha no… i wish. I will say that in terms of inconsistency Viseart does have a select few shadows that appear different in the pan, but you are pleasantly surprised at the color once your swatch or apply. But that is really only with a handful of colors. Most of them are true to pan color and will glide on your lids like a dream and lay beautifully.

Here’s my score for the SHADOW BATTLE:

APPLICATION – Viseart wins

COLOR PREDICTABILITY – This one is tied, for the most part the colors are true to pan

COLOR PIGMENTATION – This one is tied, there a some let downs with each brand, but overall they are both very pigmented.

CUSTOMIZATION – Makeup Geek takes it, you can purchase what ever shadows you want or  ordered pre-made palettes, I will say though, Viseart arranges their shadows nicely in most of the palettes

QUALITY – Viseart takes this one. Although most of the foil and duochrome Makeup Geek Shadows are out of this world. BUT MG just has too much fallout.

PRICE – They are actually pretty comparable. This one is a tie, but leaning towards MG because you can customize and purchase less. Foiled shadows are a wopping $10 a piece (same size mind you) and the duochrome, shimmer, and matte shadows are $6 a piece. On average Viseart shadows are about $6.66 a piece. The bridal satin palette is the same quality of the foiled shadows (maybe a touch less foily) but you pay less for a great product.

OK so who won? Viseart 4 vs. Makeup Geek 4

Each brand of eye shadow shines in different ways.

Have you tried these brands? Which is your favorite?

And let me know in the comments if you want to see swatches!

Up next week is the Anastasia Beverly Hills LOVE AND HATE Glow Kits Review.

30 Days of Holiday Makeup. Day 28. “Frosty”

Today’s look was a special request by one of my youngest followers! Hello Indigo! I hope you like today’s snow queen inspired look. I’m calling it “Frosty” I really miss the snow. I’m spending Christmas and new years in Florida.

What is everyone doing for New Years?

snowQueenmakeupholiday

I have to give it up to Viseart. The eye shadow and lips are a big thanks to the viseart eye shadow palettes. They are so finely milled and pigmented that blending and layering are a DREAM! And of course, I ironically used the Makeup Geek shadow in the color “Ice Queen” That made me giggle, I hope you do too!

sparkleheadbandsnowqueen

These lashes are fantastic. They are by the Vegas_Nay. You might have heard of her, she’s got about 7 million followers on Instagram.

The headband is from Bevello, in case anyone is wondering! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by. As always, I’m listing the products I used last. If you have any questions on how I achieved this look please comment below!

30 Days of Holiday Christmas. Day 27. “Wintermint”

It’s time to get shimmery! I wanted to do a minty green look. I feel like that color is being used a lot these days. This is definitely a look that I would personally wear for nighttime because it is quite of bit of eye makeup. I love pairing green eye shadow with pink lips.

makeupgeektyphoon

If you follow my instagram @beautybyburden, you can get a sneak peak of all the lips. I post them after midnight.

I don’t think this look would be complete without some lashes. Faux lashes help to balance out heavily loaded eye shadow.

makeupGEEKtyphoonANDsnakeCHARMER

These are some of my favorite lashes. They are by Ardell. So cheap!!

Thanks so much for stopping by! Let me know me if you’d want me to do a tutorial on this look. This is probably one of my favorite looks out of the 30 that I did for this challenge. I plan on starting a youTube channel next year!

Holiday Makeup Challenge (26 of 30)

28 Dec

Today I’d thought I’d post another bold lip and tame eye look. This lip color literally looks good on everyone, but it especially looks good with red hair or warm medium skin to deep skin. See the product details below for how to achieve this lip color!

deborahnarsaudaciouslipstick

30 Days of Holiday Makeup. Day 26. “Chestnuts Roasting”

One of my favorite songs is “White Christmas” by Nat King Cole. I would probably listen to this song all year round, hence why I’m posting it after Christmas. This is a great everyday look, especially for redheads. But honestly, anyone can wear this look. It’s another Nars Audacious Lipstick, in the color Deborah -a beautiful red toned brown. Seriously, everyone can rock this. Every skin tone, hair color, whatever. You got this!

I tried to capture the color of chesnuts in the eyeshadow and have them roasting above the gold glitter on the bottom liner and the reddish lipstick.

Holiday Makeup Challenge (25 of 30)

27 Dec

I can’t believe we have only five more days of posting. Just to give you an idea of what’s to come for the week here are the names of the looks:

Monday: Chestnuts

Tuesday: Wintermint

Wednesday: Frosty (specially requested from a viewer….it’s EPIC!)

Thursday: Happy Newd Year (New and Nude combo)

Friday: For January first I’m doing the colors of the year. Which, spoiler alert, look like cotton candy together!

And now for today’s look! It’s a very day time appropriate look and i’m calling it Winterberry. It is definitely a great contrast of yesterdays and what is later in store for this week.

winterberrylipMAKEUPholiday

30 Days of Holiday Makeup Challenge. Day 25. “Winterberry”

I’m sorry if you’re disappointed in the eye makeup, but I really wanted the skin and lips to be the focus. I wanted the quintessential frosty/shimmer makeup to come through the face makeup rather then the skin. The photo catches it marginally. I’m sorry about the quality this was one of the pictures that I took with the $6 home depot clamp nights.

“Thee fall lip color” must live on into the winter because it’s gorgeous. Unfortunately guys this is two lip colors….Keep reading to find what which ones.

It was a simple day, but I promise you if you are longing for the more elaborate makeup looks you need to keep on the look out! This week is going to be epic!

Holiday Makeup Challenge (24 of 30)

26 Dec

I know Christmas is over and we’re saying goodbye to family and heading back to our jobs, but the lights are still up because we are waiting for another celebration -new years! And we’re probably not ready to take down the lights yet anyways.

One year I left my Christmas decorations up until May. Needless to say, I did not put them up this year. That was partly due to the fact that I wasn’t going to be home for Christmas and I was too busy putting makeup on myself to care much about them! 🙂

Today’s look is called Holiday Lights. I initially was just going to do glitter on the liner and have the lid colors just be shimmery, but then i just covered my lids (not the crease or above the crease) with glitter! I didn’t apply the glitter haphazardly though, the colors were deliberate so that it would have a smooth transition.

makeupholidaylights

30 Days of Holiday Makeup. Day 24. “Holiday Lights”

If you would like I can post the alternate pictures of those to instagram. Just let me know in the comments below.

For the glitter I used my trusty Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Eyeliner. It’s so easy to apply! You just brush it on. It comes in many great colors. I used all but two of them!

holidayMAKEUPglitterEYESHADOW

Sorry the picture quality is not great.

If you’ve kept up with looking at my makeup looks all along you might think this one is similar to the “Christmas in Miami” DAY 12 makeup look. For “Christmas in Miami” I used the matte editorial palette 08 by Viseart. Holiday Lights mainly consists of shimmery (foil) Makeup Geek shadows with the Viseart matte shadow in the crease. I will do a review on Viseart and Makeup Geek in the new year!

Holiday Makeup Challenge (19 of 30)

21 Dec

Just “let it gooooo”!

frozenmakeup

30 Days of Holiday Makeup Challenge. Day 19. “Frozenish”

I drew my inspiration from the Disney character from Frozen. I unfortunately don’t have my Elsa Wig anymore, but I do have this platinum wig from Tony of Beverly. I think that’s OK though, because I wasn’t looking to copy. I was just using her as inspiration!

frozenelsamakeup

Imitated never duplicated… I made Elsa’s look a little more wearable!

The necklace is from Apricot Lane Boutique. I thought it looked like icicles. Am i right?

You’ll notice the the Disney character has a warm brown crease, which definitely makes sense to pair with such a cool purple lid. It’s the perfect balance of color and let’s be honest that’s probably why she can handle the cold -she’s gotta warm crease! 😉

frozen2

I paired it with a peachy lip. Browns and orangey peach lips are my favorite lips to pair with purple shadow because it doesn’t overpower the purple. 🙂

I have naturally dark eyebrows and when I wear my lighter haired wigs they can look a little harsh. If you don’t want to bleach your brows, but give them a little change in color, try a tinted brow gel! The one I’m wearing now is the Anastasia brow gel in “caramel”. I would normally use the “blonde” color they have, but the Disney characters brows were actually fairly dark.

Thanks for stopping by to read my blog! I also post on instagram!

I know it’s not technically “winter” yet, but i wanted to post this “winter wedding” look before next weekend because next weekend is VIEWERS CHOICE.  What looks do you want to see me create? Any particular colors? Do you want something all matte? Something with tons of color? An excitingly different and bold lip color, perhaps. It’s up to you! I want to hear from you in the comments below!

There are all sorts of ways you can approach bridal makeup, this is one way:

30 Days of Holiday Makeup. Day 12 of 30. “Christmas in Miami”

This look was inspired by the city of Miami’s night lights. I mean, let’s face it, this place looks like Christmas all year round, so it would be wrong of me not to do a Miami inspired makeup look.

The palette I used was surprising not the Urban Decay Electric palette. I used the Viseart Editorial Palette (08). Although, if you’ve been reading this blog for the past 11 days, you probably wouldn’t be surprised by that. 🙂

VISEART: The Editorial Palette (08)

This palette is all matte, packed with pigment, and gives you nearly zero amount of fallout! I would chose this over the Urban Decay Electric Palette any day of the week! Plus the white they put in there transforms any color.
